Slow Cooker Coke Roast

This one is for my sisters. They both cook their pot roast with a can of Coke. I on the other hand, seemed to have missed the boat on this soda pop crock pot cookery method. Say that fast 5 times. I have to admit, it was GOOD. Delicious, even. If you haven't tried your roast this way, go ahead, take the Coca Cola challenge.

It certainly is simple to prepare. You just need a roast, a can or 12 oz. of Coke (or similar off brand soda), a can of cream of mushroom soup, and a packet of french onion soup mix.

Trim your roast and put it in the crock pot. This happens to be a beef arm chuck roast. It's got a big ol' bone in it. Not to worry, it's easily removed after 8 hours of cooking.

I just sprinkled the package of onion soup mix over the roast and turned it to coat both sides.

Now dump in the cream of mushroom soup and spread it around the roast.

Pour on the Coke. It's all fizzy. Weird.
Could anything look less appetizing?

As a matter of fact, yes. The finished product after 8 hours of cooking looks far from yummy.

I removed mine from the crock pot and then separated it into bite sized pieces. Along the way, I also removed any fat that remained on the meat. That's the pile on the left.

Pour the gravy left in the crock pot over the meat through a strainer.

I had every intention to serve the pot roast over wide egg noodles. However, my pantry failed me again and I was left with plain white rice. If you've been reading long, you know that I'm a big fan of brown rice or even wild. Well, I brushed off my "issues" and steamed the white. And you know...the ugly roast, the white rice...it was delicious. Everyone loved it. Here it is on the plate:
